Ushiku Daibutsu (Ushiku Great Buddha)
The Ushiku Daibutsu (Ushiku Great Buddha) located in Ushiku-shi, Ibaraki Prefecture is the 4th tallest (and largest bronze) statue in the world.
It stands a total of 120 meters (statue height 100m and 20m base height), which is so big that Nara big Buddha statue could sit on its palm.
There are a small zoo, garden, cemetery, souvenir shopping street and restaurants on the grounds around the statue.

Great Buddha and Fireworks
Fireworks dedicated from the general public are set off during the Buddhist memorial service every August. There are no other sights more beautiful than the fireworks just close by the Great Buddha which will take your breath away.

Majestic and Sacred Space
Not only fireworks but also innumerable lanterns make a fantastic scene and are one of the highlights of the Buddhist memorial service. When monks intone sutra, the Great Buddha is illuminated in various colors, and surrounded by many laser beams, the whole place is becomes a majestic and sacred space, far from everyday life.
